How to set evidence labels before choosing a creator media kit tool
A non-ranked documentary method for a creator media kit tool shortlist, with evidence labels, reviewer disclosure and claims from Canva, Beacons and Mason Circle.
What to take away
- Fix the portfolio requirement before reading reviews, so the comparison matches the task the creator actually has to do.
- This article is a non-ranked documentary shortlist. No provider ranking or price comparison is offered.
- Label every evidence item as a documented claim, an observation or an editorial judgement, and keep the labels apart.
- No subscriptions, uploads, exports or support requests were undertaken for this research.
Start with the portfolio requirement, not the tools
State plainly what the kit must do. The creator may need authorised work samples with precise captions and dated audience evidence.
Write the receiving format and the maintenance owner into the brief. Do not assume the first creator stays available, or that a delivered image equals an editable source.
The sequence below fixes criteria before any candidate is examined.
Start with the portfolio requirement
- Define the portfolio task and the decision it informs.
- Identify the subject, the reviewer and the evidence source.
- Set common criteria before comparing candidates.
- Separate a documented route from an observed result.
- Examine the receiving copy and the rights questions.
- Publish only the verdict the record can support.

Identify the subject precisely
A product name is not a reproducible subject. Record the account plan, version, operating environment and settings for a later hands-on review.
For a documentary review, name the exact page and section, and note any displayed edit date and the date it was read.
The subjects here are Canva's media-kit maker and flattened-PDF help pages, Beacons' product and design help records, and Mason Circle's creator-services media-kit section. Each subject is narrower than a review of the provider's whole business.

Canva's media-kit maker page describes templates, brand elements and influencer-kit content. It establishes a first-party proposition, not independent proof that a creator gains attention or work.
Make reviewer status visible
This guide was prepared by the creatorportfolio.co.uk editorial desk as desk research. No named human author, fact-checker or methodological reviewer is attached, and no independent testing body was appointed.
That disclosure belongs next to the assessment it affects. A later hands-on review needs the actual reviewer's name, experience and role in collecting the evidence.
The publisher holds no affiliate links for this piece and received no supplied trial account.
Separate evidence by what it can establish
Three labels do the work in the evidence log. A documented claim records what a cited source states, an observation records what a reviewer did and saw under identified conditions, and an editorial judgement interprets evidence against the stated requirement.
A customer quote on a supplier page stays a supplier-published quote unless separately investigated.
For the source-by-source treatment of the two best-documented names, read official evidence for Canva and Beacons.
Example evidence-log entry
One filled line shows the method in practice.
Criterion: receiving format. Label: documented claim. Source: Canva flattened-PDF help page, read 6 September 2026. Finding: a PDF export route is described. Scope note: no export was performed, so links, text and reading order in an uncreated kit remain unchecked.
Empty cells in the comparison below are gaps, not failures.

Keep the criteria stable and the units equal
Choose criteria both candidates can answer without hiding different product models. For image input, ask whether the documentation describes inserting an uploaded image.
Use one evidence unit per table cell. Documentary status, observed task result and measured duration are not interchangeable.
Where a provider page makes a comparative claim, treat it as a claim. Checking the advertising claims in a creator media kit shows how to hold promotional wording inside its evidence limits.
Costs stay out of scope until current terms for the actual use and comparable scope have been researched.
Plan a trial without pretending it occurred
A future trial needs authorised content and a written task. Specify the requested changes, the intended output and what the reviewer must inspect.
Record deviations. An account restriction, unclear documentation and an observed product failure are different findings.
A feature that allows upload or reuse does not establish permission to use the content. GOV.UK copyright guidance explains permission and permitted-use routes.
If a tool collects recipient information, treat the data flow as a separate question, and use ICO guidance on the UK GDPR for controller duties.
Common questions
Should a provider page count as proof the tool works?
No. A provider page establishes a first-party proposition, and independent proof needs its own provenance.
What should a media kit review disclose about its reviewer?
The actual reviewer's name, relevant experience and role in gathering evidence, plus any affiliate link, paid inclusion or supplied account.
What should I check about the file the recipient gets?
Check the receiving format and inspect the actual output, and do not move a finding from the editor to an exported file without evidence.
