Canva media kit tutorial for UK influencers and press kits
A practical Canva media kit tutorial for UK influencers, covering A4 setup, British colour and type choices, disclosure rules and what UK brands expect.
What to take away
- Canva suits a UK influencer media kit, but its templates default to US Letter, US spelling and dollar rates.
- Set the page to A4, keep British English, and quote fees in pounds with the VAT position stated.
- Build six to eight pagescover, audience evidence, work, rates, rights and contact.
- Tie every number to a dated source, and keep personal data collection to a minimum.
Set the design up for a UK reader
Open Canva from a UK account, so size, currency and language defaults match what you invoice. Choose A4 portrait rather than US Letter, because UK brand teams print decks and file them with other A4 paperwork.

A single kit fits inside the free plan; paid tiers mainly add shared brand assets, which help once you run separate kits for TikTok, YouTube and podcast work. The free plan's template library is broad enough for a kit that ends up as a PDF attachment.
Decide the sections before you place a text box. Our guide to media kit contents for UK influencers lists what UK brand managers expect to find, and what they skip.
Set the page background to a flat colour rather than an image. Photo backgrounds balloon file size, and media kits get emailed far more often than viewed online.
Six steps to build a Canva media kit for UK brands
Work through these in order, and give each page a single job rather than filling space.
Six steps to build the kit
- Set custom size 210 by 297 mm
- Build cover with name and niche
- Add dated analytics evidence pages
- Add pounds rate table with VAT line
- Add rights and contact terms
- Export compressed PDF and hosted link
- Start a custom size design at 210 by 297 mm, then switch the document language to English (United Kingdom) so spellcheck stops flagging colour and organise.
- Build the coveryour name, niche, one line of positioning and an email address you actually read.
- Add evidence pages. Use dated screenshots from platform analytics, show the UK split of your audience, and name clients only where the contract allows. Export each screenshot on the day you check it.
- Add the commercial page as a table of pounds, with a VAT line that says whether figures include VAT. Our influencer rate card template for UK creators shows the fields worth keeping.
- Finish with rights and contactusage terms, image credits, and how you handle any personal data the kit collects.
- Export twicea compressed PDF for email attachments and a hosted link for social bios, both dated in the footer.
Choose colour and type that read as British
UK brand decks lean restrained: navy, slate, bottle green, warm off-white, with one accent colour. Saturated gradients and heavy shadows make a kit look like a template.
Use the palette table as a starting point, then swap in the colours from your own brand sheet.
Choose colour and type
| Element | Direction | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Page background | Off-white or light grey | prints without banding |
| Body text | Near-black rather than pure black | easier on phone screens |
| Accent | One colour, used for figures | keeps attention on the rates |
| Imagery | Two or three photographs you own | avoids licence questions |
For type, choose a face with British English glyphs and lining figures that sit straight in a rates table. Sentence case headings read better on a phone than block capitals.
For example, a food creator pitching a supermarket might pair off-white with near-black and one warm accent, then keep the rates table in pounds.
Sort rights, data and disclosure
Any paid partnership shown in the kit is advertising, so the advertising codes published by ASA and CAP apply to it. UK brands expect the commercial relationship to be obvious on the page that mentions it.
Screenshots carry third-party rights. Music artwork, other creators' posts and client logos need permission. The Intellectual Property Office sets out the protections that apply.
If the kit has a sign-up form, that is personal data. The ICO's UK GDPR guidance covers lawful bases and retention, and the simplest approach is to collect nothing you cannot justify.
Media kits often include an audience age breakdown. Keep it aggregated, and avoid listing individual followers or message screenshots without consent.
Store the kit's source files somewhere with version history, and date the exported PDF in the footer so a buyer knows which version they hold.
Common questions
Do I need a paid Canva plan?
Not for one kit. Paid plans mainly add shared brand assets and premium stock, which help when you keep separate kits for different platforms.
Should I start from a Canva template?
Start from a blank A4 document instead. Most gallery templates are US Letter, use dollar rate cards, and carry decorative elements you will delete.
How long should a UK influencer media kit be?
Six to eight pages is enough. Length is not the signal; dated evidence is.
Can I use Canva stock photos in a media kit?
Canva's licence governs the stock assets you place, not the brands or people shown in them. Check the terms for each element, and get written permission before using a client logo.
